The ENT-Department at the University Hospital in Ulm welcomes applications for a position as a postdoctoral researcher or PhD-student with (bio-)engineering background for the development of a robotic assistant for laryngeal surgery.
Development of a Robotic Assistant for Laryngeal Surgery
Design, development, and the extensive testing of a robotic assistant for laryngeal surgery based onpreviously constructed demonstrators. Observation of surgical larynx procedures and definition of requirements for robotic assistance. Integration of a laser fiber solution and augmented reality into the robotic assistant demonstrator. Initiation of an early clinical study for the application of the robotic assistant in transoral surgical cases inthe larynx. Maintaining the communication and exchange with industrial and scientific partners during the project
Co-supervision of PhD candidates and Master’s and Bachelor’s students.
PhD or Master in robotics, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering,computer engineering or a related field. Hands on experience and background in the development of robotic and mechatronics systems with aparticular focus on medical and surgical systems are beneficial
Strong track record of publications. Experience with 3D printing. English and German language skills. Excellent interpersonal andcommunication skills. High motivation and willingness to work in an international and interdisciplinary team. Maturity and capacity to begin an independent research career.
